Ann Bernard - Biography

About Ann Bernard

Having grown up in Portland Oregon and later moving to Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, Ann Bernard knows all too well the grey skies that accompany a long wet winter.  She learned early on that bright colors would counteract the muted tones and would lift her spirits year round.  Her art reflects her desire to brighten her world and share it with others.  She creates abstracts and impressionistic landscapes all with a vibrant color element in common.

Combined with bright colors, Ann uses mixed media tools and techniques to achieve multilayered texture reflecting movement and energy.  Although the use of brushes is standard practice, she also employs a variety of atypical tools, such as plastic produce bags, wax paper, and organic materials from nature to add interest and depth, with most often her table top acting as an easel.

Ann hopes the pleasure and vitality she finds in creating her paintings will transport others to her happy place, and lift their spirits as it has hers.

Ann Bernard resides on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Ludlow, WA and is a member of the Port Ludlow Art League, Women Painters of Washington, and Northwind Art Center in Port Townsend.  She has exhibited her work in various venues around Port Ludlow as well as in galleries and shows in Port Townsend, Gig Harbor, Bremerton, Anacortes,  and Edmonds, WA.
